Obituary for Irene Petryshen

Irene Petryshen
The families of Irene wish to express their sadness at the sudden passing of their aunt. She will always be remembered as the kind, caring, determined person that she was, never backing down from a challenge but forever moving forward. In her early years Irene got her nursing degree and worked in Vernon, she pursued many different careers through her lifetime taking her to many places. Later Irene followed her passion and settled in Vancouver where she worked as a home support worker, caring for individuals.

Irene will be remembered for her zest for life, she went on daily walks , liked all nature, birds, squirrels and flowers were among her favorites. She loved her private times reading or doing crosswords. Irene had a green thumb and loved tending to her houseplants, or helping friends with their gardens. She enjoyed taking pictures and regularly carried her camera. Irene loved to knit, she made everything from sweaters to blankets. She loved to bake and shared many of her goodies with friends and relatives, especially at Christmas time. Irene volunteered at the hospital thrift store and was always available to lend a helping hand. Irene will be forever missed by her two sister in laws and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Irene’s wishes were that she did not want a funeral nor a celebration of life. Irene donated to many charities, Children’s Hospital, Red Cross and the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice. Auntie we will miss you.
May you find comfort in the arms of an angel. And while she lies in peaceful sleep
Her memory we shall always keep
