Farewell Christina

I have been twice blessed to not only have my two children but two wonderful step-children as well. How enjoyable for several years to have them stay with us for several weeks during summer holidays and even better, they came home to live with us and finish high school in Mayerthorpe. That's when I learned that an entire loaf of bread was merely an after school snack for three hungry teenagers. While at home Christina was the dishwasher loading queen. She would load it to its maximum capacity (and then some) and if a few didn't get quite clean, well, they could go back in the next night, because none of the three cared for washing dishes by hand. I was always impressed by how easily and comfortably Christina could talk to people any time and any place. Her sense of humor, positive attitude, generosity and willingness to work hard are only some of her characteristics I admired. Christina gave much of herself to her friends and family and added richness to their lives. At the Celebration of Life her employers hosted we heard many comments indicating she was a true and valued friend. Since we moved to the west coast we saw her frequently and twice she traveled with us on our winter escapes to Arizona; once going down and once returning. Little did we know those times would be among the last we'd have with her and now we feel especially fortunate to have had those times. Since Christina's death we have slowly been disconnecting the threads that tied her to this physical earth; paying her final bills, closing her bank accounts, emptying her storage locker. Three things she never went anywhere without were her cell phone, her mug and her GPS. Denis now has her mug and phone and Shelby has her GPS. Laurie and I have some of her cross-stitch items. It is through those threads and our many memories of her that she will remain forever tied to us and ever remembered. Goodbye Christina; we will miss you deeply.
