Warren Lyle Hammond was born on June 1, 1941 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to loving parents Ernie and Margaret Hammond. His family moved to North Vancouver in 1945, where he grew up. In 1961 he graduated from high school at Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta and immediately went to work at Woodwards. He lived a simple life as a loyal and faithful warehouse worker at Walker Exhaust for 22 years.
Warren will always be remembered for his passion for cars, but he had a greater passion for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Warren deeply loved his family, and was especially fond of babies.
In 1996 he surprised everyone by introducing a lady into his solitary life. On March 29, 1997 Warren and Lois were married and new adventures awaited them both. One they could not anticipate was a 15 year journey with Alzheimer’s.
Warren died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 2026 at Hawthorne Care Community where he had resided for 9 years. He is now rejoicing in his heavenly home. Warren is survived by his loving wife Lois, his brothers Craig (Brenda), Brian (Jill), and Garth, his sister Sylvia (Gregg) and step-sisters Fay (George) and Ingrid.
A memorial service for Warren will be held on September 18 at 2:00 pm at Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship (1160 Lansdowne Avenue, Coquitlam). In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Abundant Kingdom Living to provide Bibles (Warren’s most prized possession) for their Street Christmas in India.
