Terrance Alan Simpson

June 17, 1961 — February 17, 2026

West Vancouver

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Terrance Alan Simpson. Terry died peacefully in his sleep in his 65th year, on February 17, 2026 at his home in West Vancouver, BC.

Terry was a retired ESL teacher who loved music and enjoyed playing guitar and writing lyrics. Terry lived life in his own way, guided by his passions and his love of music. He could often be found at Ambleside Park or walking along the seawall, greeting familiar faces, and making new friends wherever he went.

Terry will be deeply missed by his mother, Betty Simpson (the late Cecil); his sister, Kim (Doug); and his brother, Chris (Paula). He was uncle to Kate, Charlie, Jake and William.

Terry’s gentle spirit will also be remembered by his many friends, neighbours, and the international students he taught and befriended over the years, many of whom stayed in touch long after leaving Canada. Though his passing was sudden, we take comfort in knowing he was at home in what he called his cottage, near the water — the place he loved most — surrounded by music, natural beauty, and a community where he had found belonging.

A celebration of Terry’s life will take place at a later date. Those who knew him will remember his kindness and the distinctive way he moved through the world and connected with people from many walks of life.

In lieu of flowers, Terry would have appreciated people showing kindness, acceptance, and patience to each other.
