RIEBERGER Sylvester (Sid) John
October 26, 1930 – March 16th, 2019

Sid passed away in White Rock, B.C., just 2 short months after the passing of his wife Mary. Sid was born in Lintlaw, Saskatchewan to John and Hedwig Rieberger. Sid was one of 13 children, with 6 brothers and 6 sisters.

Sid met the love of his life Mary in Creston, B.C. What was described as an initial “hello” followed by chats at the coffee shop blossomed into a life-long relationship. The young couple were married on October 26th 1950 – on Sid’s 20th birthday. Their first home in Salmo, on the farm of a good friend, followed by time at Reeves Macdonald Mine before settling back in Creston were they started their family. They moved to Prince George in 1964, and then to North Delta in 1969 where they raised their family. Theirs was a loving marriage spanning 7 decades.

Sid took great pride in his family, home and work. A Heavy Duty Mechanic by trade, he was also an exceptional craftsperson who loved working with wood and the challenge of any type of repair project. He loved music, and it was not unusual to find Dad strumming his guitar and singing a familiar song. Sid and Mary loved socializing, camping and travel and they never missed a family reunion.

Sid is survived by his two sons Dave (Branca) and Jim (Lynne), and beautiful grand-daughters Angela, Julia and Dave’s step-daughter Sophia and Grandson Kienen (Sophia), who will always remember how special they were to him.

Rest in peace beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather.

The Family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Baptist Care, Westminster House, Pat Niwinski and Virginia Johnson for their compassionate care of Sid.

A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Church on Wednesday Mar. 27th, 2019. Interment to follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
