It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Beveridge at the end of June in Surrey, BC, aged 59. He is survived by siblings, Douglas and Lynda, sister-in-law Candace, nephew Oliver, niece Emily, and close cousins Susan, Becky, and Val. He leaves behind a nephew-in-law Richard and grand-nephew Logan, as well as many other cousins and friends who loved him.
Born in Surrey, BC, Steve moved several times as a child following his father’s RCMP career throughout small towns in the province of BC, finishing high school in Revelstoke. Steve moved back to the Lower Mainland and enrolled in Douglas College and finished a degree at UBC in the mid 80s – early 1990s. A creative person by nature, Steve was self-taught in woodwork and carpentry and could turn his hand to furniture making, high end finishing, as well as larger construction and renovation projects. He pursued this field of work for several decades.
Steve enjoyed the outdoors – and in young adulthood through mid-life engaged in numerous activities that allowed him to fully appreciate the beauty of our province. He was a pet carer, with special Husky dog, Fraser, being a trusted companion for many years, and more recently his two cats who kept him company and entertained.
Steve will be missed by many for his humour and charm. He was a fun person to be with – funny and quick witted – and he was someone his family cared for so very deeply. We are mindful of his unfinished life, having passed too soon. Family waiting in spirit for him to join them are parents Harry and Anna, and many beloved aunts and uncles, and grandparents.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held late summer or early autumn when family are able to gather. Connect with Steve’s sister regarding details.
