Shirley Taylor

October 1, 1929 — March 23, 2018

Sad to announce Shirley Margaret Taylor passed away peacefully March 23, 2018 in Burnaby at 88 years young. Born in Nelson New Zealand on Oct. 1, 1929 and raised in Wellington during the depression by widow Nancy Henderson. Met future Canadian husband merchant seaman Leslie in Wellington and set sail to Vancouver where spent the next 64 years including years working on balancing books. Outlived husband Les, mother Nancy and brothers Cec and Gil Henderson in New Zealand.

Shirley leaves behind in Vancouver son Rick, brother-in-law Peter Thorne, niece Betty Geisinger and grandnephews John and Richard, along with close Melbourne relatives Kerryn and Mike Henderson, Brooke, James, Jack, and Max Henderson, and Auckland's Sophie, Charmaine, and Peter Champion.

Big time 'Coronation Street' addict and longtime Vancouver Canuck fan which required possession of wicked sense of humour. Loved watching old Hollywood movies and classic American TV comedies on prized small screen. Never lost her Kiwi accent or loathing of conservative Liberals being staunch NDP and totally against Trudeau Texas pipelines. Champion crib player and legendary Old Orchard bowler. Supported many local charities and loved animals especially cool cats and funny old dogs.

No service as per request but memorial planned in her Condo early May. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA. Ashes to be buried with husband Les's overlooking Pacific Ocean. Greatly missed by all old friends and family.
