Ruth Elizabeth Deshaies

In Loving Memory of Ruth Elizabeth Deshaies nee Hope

Born in Vancouver on April 24th, 1940, Ruth passed away peacefully on the morning of August 28th, 2025. She attended UBC and earned her Masters degree in Education. Ruth touched the lives of many students during her years at Graham Bruce Elementary School.

In addition to her teaching career, Ruth was deeply involved in her community through various volunteer efforts, particularly through her Sorority: Beta Sigma Phi. She was also well-known as the Avon lady to many. Her love of travel took her all around the world and on many cruises, enriching her life with exploration and adventure. Ruth will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of the color blue, and her fondness for puffins. She was passionate about crafts, especially sewing and card-making.

Ruth lived a life marked by remarkable independence, curiosity, and a willingness to explore both the world and herself. She embraced each new experience with an open heart and a sense of adventure, leaving a lasting impact on those around her. Ruth was predeceased by her brother Ken and is survived by her brother Robert, niece Shannon, and nephews Mike, Ryan, and Chris.
