Roderick John Rhodes

Roderick was born in Inverness, Scotland in 1938. He is pre-deceased by both his parents, Jessie Ann and Henry Rhodes, and his sister, Daphne Mackintosh.

In 1959 Roderick met and married Elizabeth Harrison and had a daughter, Marion, and a son, Robert. In 1974 Roderick moved his family to Canada to enjoy the better opportunities to be found in this wonderful country. In 1978 Roderick and Elizabeth separated.

Roderick bought a business, Capilano Office & Window Cleaning, and eventually built it into a thriving enterprise. He also had, for a while, the Mermaid Café in Surrey, BC but the restaurant business is very competitive and unfortunately the café had to be closed after the first year.

In time, Roderick met and married Liliya and they remained married until Liliya’s death in 2020. Liliya brought two teenaged sons with her to Canada, Yuri and Vitaliy.

Roderick’s son Robert had three daughters, Natasha, Amber & Katherine. At the time of his death Roderick, had four great grand-children; Dominik, Makenzie, Liam and Jesse. Roderick’s son, Robert, pre-deceased him in November 2025.

Roderick was diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease with Dementia in 2019. After Liliya died he had several care givers who helped him immensely but eventually he needed 24 hour care. The Hilton Villa Care Centre provided that care for the last 17 months of his life and the family is grateful to the staff for their dedication and kindness.
