Patricia Macdonald

August 2, 1950 — December 8, 2024

Patti left us on Dec 8, 2024 after a four month struggle with cancer.

Born August 2nd , 1950 to Beth and George Calangis in Vancouver. She is predeceased by her parents and beloved son Ian (2018). Patti is survived by her loving husband James (Jim), son Gregory, daughter-in-law Lindsay Fitzsimmons, and her pride and joy, two and a half year old granddaughter Betty. Patti is also survived by her sister Marina Calangis Jones (Nick 2022), sisters in law Sheila Rogers (Doug), Lindsay Babineau (Lindsay), nieces and nephews and cousins. Her long-time friends Wilma Poirier and Lynn Schwarz, will miss her.

Patti graduated from Lord Byng High School and then completed a secretarial course at Vancouver City College. She started work at Canada Permanent Trust in Kerrisdale, then RBC and many years for Burnaby Parks and Recreation.

Patti and Jim were married on May 6th 1972, and together, were active members of the Vintage Car Club of Canada for 58 years, and enjoyed many wonderful people, tours and events.

Patti enjoyed travels to Thailand and Great Britain, and VIA Rail's famous Canadian from Vancouver to Toronto, cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean, Panama Canal and Alaska, plus road trips to Canadian and US National Parks, Route 66 and many visits to Palm Springs. A highlight was seeing Gregory as a member of the band Sloan open for the Rolling Stones in Halifax.

Patti loved Gordon Lightfoot, The Beatles, the Blue Jays, Canucks, the colour pink, scrap-booking, card making, book club, tequila, fish tacos, flamingos, and many cats!

Special thanks to dear friends Colleen Stepney, Trudy Dunn, Linda and Connie Hoen for all their help and support for Patti and Jim.

Thank you to the wonderful care givers at Royal Columbian Hospital, St Michael's Hospice and Burnaby Hospital Palliative Care.

A celebration of Patti's life will be held Sunday March 9th starting at 1.30
Scandinavian Centre 6540 Thomas St BBY.
