It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Russell Ellis. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Russel is predeceased by his parents Utrice and Clarence Ellis and his sister Sheila Mendes.
Russel is survived by his brothers Earl and Gurney Ellis and his sister Nerlin Maclauglin. His daughter Michelle St John and his Grandson Marcus Hollingsworth as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Russell came to Canada in 1976 where he worked at CP Rail in Calgary then was transferred to the Port Coquiltam yard in British Columbia until his retirement in 2003.
Russell was an extremely outgoing person who made friends with everyone without judgement. He loved entertaining and would have delicious Caribbean suppers where he invited as many people that his small apartment would accommodate. He also loved cooking late at night. All his friends and family know if he called you late at night he was most likely stirring a pot, sipping on Royal Reserve and always ready for a good conversation. He loved being on stage singing love ballads and Bolero dancing demonstrating all of his "special" moves. One of his favourite past time was playing bingo, he could play multiple cards and still carry a conversation.
Russell's family would like to thank all the medical professionals, neighbors and friends who supported him during the past years. We would like to extend our gratitude to Bennet and Denise Arrington and Mandy Crump who was always there at a moment's notice.
A celebration of life will be held for Russel in Calgary within the next few weeks. Please stay tuned for more info.
