Matthew Campfield
July 31, 1996 — November 10, 2018
It is with great sadness that we write that Matthew Laurence Campfield, “Matt” to his friends, born July 31, 1996, tragically passed away surrounded by family on November 9th, 2018 at the age of 22. Matthew has left a large number of family and friends behind with broken hearts, including his mom and dad, Darrell and Shauna, sister Taylor, grandparents Ted and Cheryl Murray, and Francis Campfield, and girlfriend, Alison Dzurko. He will be greatly missed by his aunt, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Matt had a tremendous love of life and packed a lot of living into his short 22 years. He didn’t shy away from new or sudden challenges and quickly changed course in his life to take advantage of new opportunities. He built a huge number of relationships that he treasured and maintained, and he was loyal to his friends and family. They knew he had their back.
He had a love of sports in general, and you could not find a more passionate new England Patriots fan anywhere. His favorite time of the year was football Sunday.
He was early in his career, but had many accomplishments to be proud of, including obtaining both his C and B welding certification tickets. He was looking forward to getting his Red Seal. He had a great work ethic and was well respected wherever he worked.
He had developed a love of adventurous and courageous travel, including trips to both Korea and the Philippines. His wealth of relationships continued to grow in these places where he made a clear impact on people’s lives.
We will all miss his smile, laughter and sense of humour.
A celebration of Matt’s life will be held on Saturday, November 24th at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 Regan Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3J 3B8.
