Judith-Lynne Lapalme (Collins) born in Stratford Ontario, December 2nd 1950 passed away peacefully at the North Shore Hospice in North Vancouver, BC on September 7th 2022 with family faithfully and lovingly by her side. Predeceased by her parents William and Marjory Collins. Loving sister to Cindy Wise (Rob). Proud Mother to Lisa Christo (Greg),Tony Christo (Carol), Polly Holborn, Heidi Holborn-Townsend and Melissa (Corey). Beloved Nana Jude to her grandchildren Michael, Anthony, Austin, Paige, Myles, Quinton, Grant, Taelyn, Madilyn, Ashlyn, Taylor and Abbey. She was overjoyed to be Great Grandma to Cooper. Aunt to Brad, Karen, Jaime, Marj and Matt and to all her great nieces and nephews whom she was so fond of. She leaves behind her feline best friend Finnigan
A star athlete in her youth Judy was highly decorated in track and field as well as in numerous other sports. She adopted the attitude early on in life that if the boys could do it so could she, and that she did. There wasn’t a challenge she couldn’t tackle, like going back to college in her 50’s and graduating with honours.
To all that knew her Judy was a compassionate and caring woman whom always made time for others. This was evident in her early work in nursing and in all the people she would take under her wing when later running her own business in Vancouver. Whether sponsoring families through the Christmas Bureau or stopping to talk to someone homeless she was always encouraging those around her to do the same. Such was the case all her years at The Maples Adolescent Treatment Center before her retirement.
She was witty as hell, crafty as Martha and as feisty Irish as they came in a tiny 4’11 package. She’ll forever be known for her wonderful story telling and writing abilities, Roosters, bunny slippers, potato salad, Shepard’s pie, ribs, her tiny but hilarious presence and her huge heart.
She was rarely out-fished in a boat and loved fishing at the Cabin in Logan Lake. She looked forward to reuniting in Heaven with her parents whom we are sure were waiting to greet her on the dock with poles in hand. In that her family may find some comfort.
Judy spent her years living between Ontario and BC, spending the last several years in the Muskoka area near her sister before returning to BC. A private family service/memorial will be held at a later date in Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations to the
North Shore Hospice / Lions Gate Hospital Foundation
or any local
Christmas Bureau
would be greatly appreciated.
