James, 86, passed away peacefully in hospital after battling cancer.
He was born March 17, 1940 in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan to parents Joseph & Melunia Laturnus.
He was predeceased by his son Patrick and wife of 58 years Beverley. Jim is survived by his sons David, Russell (Barb), Keith, and grandsons William and Benjamin.
In 1969, Jim & Bev moved from Saskatchewan to Chilliwack, BC, where they started a refrigeration and air conditioning company in 1970 and ran it until retirement in 2004.
Jim coached his sons’ softball teams and later volunteered with Chilliwack Community Policing alongside Bev.
Jim had a lifelong passion for restoring vintage cars that dates back to his youth in Saskatchewan. He was particularly proud of the 1929 Ford boat-tail speedster that he built himself and would drive around town with Bev by his side. He was a member of the Vintage Car Club of Canada - Chilliwack Chapter until his passing.
A private gathering will be held at a later date.
