Greenwood, James Clifford
October 14, 1936 – June 4, 2025
What a ride! Jim lived his life to the fullest, on his own terms. He passed peacefully surrounded by family on June 4, 2025. Jim lived a remarkable life filled with passion and laughter and was known for the twinkle in his blue eyes!
Jim was a man of deep connections and unwavering loyalty. He touched countless lives through his extraordinary ability to bring people together, recognize their own unique achievements, and foster lasting friendships. Whether among his peers in the real estate and shopping centre industry, his love of motorcycles and hot rods, or the monthly gatherings with high school friends, Jim cultivated relationships that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
A founding member of the Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society (GVMPS) and a dedicated committee member, Jim was instrumental in commemorating the heritage of motorsports in the region. He was an original founder of the regeneration of the BC Hot Rod Association (BCHRA) and co-chaired the 50th Anniversary event. Jim was a motorcycle race promoter and ran CMA sanctioned races at Cloverdale Fairgrounds in the 1960’s. He was member #15 of the Igniters Car Club from North Burnaby. Jim “by James” was renowned as a very talented pin-striper, and some of his work is still seen at motorcycle and car shows.
Jim worked in retail leasing and management from the 1960’s to 2023. His work spanned across Canada and included leasing and developing Oakridge, Lougheed, Brentwood, and Coquitlam Centre. He was one of the original members of The Pheonix Group, a business breakfast club that meets weekly for the past 35 years.
Family was Jim's pride and joy, and he shared a life of love and laughter with them, along with his knowledge of trivia, his bad spelling and mispronunciations. He is deeply missed by his wife Vicki, children Gene, Jo-Anne, and Dan (Shelley) and their mother Linda, grandchildren Michael (Mariah), Adam, and Kyle, his great-grandchildren John and Abigail; his sister Zelia (Dennis), and nephews Christian (Leah) and Joe.
Jim’s family, friends, and colleagues mourn the loss of a man who enriched their lives in immeasurable ways and left a legacy of love and connection.
