Quietly after a brief illness at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Port Moody, BC on Thursday, May 25, 2023 Isobel Main passed away aged 86 years.
Loving mother of Anneliese and Mark and son-in-law Bruce Dean. Grandmother of Catie and Rebecca and aunt of Alison and Heather. Isobel will be missed by long time friends and congregation of St Giles United Church, friends and neighbours of Dunwood Place, and friends in British Columbia, Ontario and Scotland. Predeceased by her daughter Caroline Dean, brother Ian and sister-in-law Mary, and former spouse Heinz.
Isobel’s interests were art, music and literature; but her passion was classical music and opera. She was avidly involved with choirs and musical theatre starting as a young woman in Scotland with the Lochgelly Musical Association and continued in Vancouver after immigrating to Canada with her husband and young family in 1965. Isobel’s a former member of the Vancouver Bach Choir, North Shore Light Opera Society, performer in Theatre Under the Stars and a long-time member of St Giles United Church choir and congregation.
Memorial service and celebration of life to be held Thursday, June 22, 2023, 11 am, at Oakridge United Church, 305, W 41st Avenue, Vancouver, BC.
Memorial donations appreciated to the BC Lung Foundation.
