Hilda May McAfee born October 17, 1923 at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver BC. Moved to Powell River BC where she grew up with her two brothers Robert and Jack and two sisters Ruth and Marge. She was raised by her mom Hilda Hawkins as her father died at a young age from tuberculosis.
She moved back to Vancouver to do her nursing degree at St Paul’s hospital and graduated in 1948. During her training she met her husband Hugh at the Embassy Ballroom. They married on April 6 1949 and bought a home in the Dunbar area and had two sons David and Glen until 1989 when they moved to Port Coquitlam. Her husband passed in June of 2011. Her son Glen moved in with her in September of 2015 and resided with her until November of 2019 when she moved to a care home until her passing on May 17 2020.
She is survived by her brother Jack sons David and Glen and grandsons Christopher and Nathan.She was a very caring Mother and will be missed by all who knew her!
