In Loving Memory of Gabriela Connor October 23, 1919 – October 9, 2025
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend Gabriela Connor, who departed peacefully on October 9, 2025, just shy of her 106th birthday.
Born in Costa Rica in 1919, she lived a life rich in experience, wisdom, and joy. Her journey took her across the globe—from the vibrant streets of New York City to the historic charm of Madrid, the elegance of Santiago, the cultural heart of Mexico City, the bustling energy of Tokyo, and finally to the serene beauty of Delta, British Columbia.
Her love story began on a Greyhound bus, returning to Costa Rica after completing her Bachelor of Arts in 1944 at The College of St. Catherine’s in St. Paul, Minnesota. She happened to sit next to a handsome Canadian boy just returning from the war. It was love at first sight, and Robert J. Connor followed her all the way to Costa Rica where they married and built a life filled with adventure, family, and enduring affection.
She was a woman of warmth and curiosity, always eager to meet new people and engage in meaningful conversation. Her presence lit up every room, and her stories—woven with humor, insight, and compassion—will be cherished by all who knew her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and connection that spans generations and continents. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Mass will be held on October 30th at 11 am at Sacred Heart Parish, 3900 Arthur Drive, Delta, BC.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to BC SPCA (https://spca.bc.ca/donate/giving-in-memory/) in her memory.
