Ella Schuster

Ella Kathleen Schuster passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 94 on July 29, 2026 at the George Derby Seniors Care Centre in Burnaby BC. Ella was predeceased by her former husband James Schuster and leaves daughter Linda Schuster (Coquitlam BC), daughter Darlene Klaassen (Vancouver BC), son Dean Schuster (Edmonton AB), granddaughters Kristen (Schuster) Sollas, Angela Schuster, Corina Klaassen, grandson Anthony Klaassen, and great granddaughter Mya Klaassen.

Ella was born in 1932, one of five children (Wilhamena, Ambrous, Helen, and Birnirt) born to Michael Papp and Kathleen Kellerman in Manning AB. Upon the death of her mother and remarriage of Michael Papp, Ella acquired five step-siblings (Mary, Celina, Anne, Regina and Christina).

Ella lived in Edmonton and raised her three children with husband James. Eventually the family moved to Vancouver BC where James worked as a pipefitter. Upon divorce from James, Ella took on a career as a home care worker providing support services for seniors in their homes. Ella retired at age 65 and went on to an enjoyable retirement in the Vancouver area with her children and grand-kids nearby. Ella enjoyed travelling on bus tours to scenic locations in BC and the US.

At 87 with age creeping up, in 2019 Ella moved to an apartment in a Seniors facility that provided daily meals in Coquitlam BC, and in 2024 she became a resident at George Derby Seniors Care Centre with full 24 hour care.

Ella was cremated. There will be no public service or memorial.
