Elizabeth Trainner

July 14, 1945 — February 25, 2025

With deep sadness, we said our last goodbye to our mum Elizabeth Trainner, born Elizabeth Weir McGill Fisher on July 14,1945, in Edinburgh, Scotland. She passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2025, at Hawthorne Seniors Care Community. Elizabeth is the oldest of five children. Her deceased parents are Daniel Fisher and Catherine Fisher (McGill).

Elizabeth, also known as Betty by many of her friends and family, is big sister to her siblings Dan (Agnes), Edward (Linda), Brenda (Ronnie) and Brian (Julia). Betty grew up in Greenock, Scotland and at one of the weekly dances, she met Patrick Trainner, also known as Patrick Adams. She was 21 when they married on June 25, 1966. They have two children, Patrick (Erin) and Linda (Robert)

Betty worked as an emergency nurse at Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock, Scotland before immigrating to Vancouver, Canada in July 1982. Much of her working life in Canada was at Three Links Care Centre where she performed a variety of roles.

Another beloved name that Betty was known by was “Granny.” She gave much of her time to looking after and spending time with Abbie, Ainsley, Jenna and Elliote. The girls' childhoods were rich in Scottish stories from both Granny and Aunty Margaret.

Although Betty had a good life in Canada, thanks in part to the close-knit Scottish community and strong friendships with Ann and Elizabeth, she always missed her family and siblings “back home.” At some point, Betty and Pat (deceased Nov.24, 2020) will return to Scotland together where family will scatter their ashes in Greenock, where they met, fell in love, and began their lives together.
