In Loving Memory of Darlene O'Keefe

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene O'Keefe, who passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on January 28, 1962, in Montreal, Quebec, Darlene lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. In 2000, she moved to Burnaby, British Columbia, where she built a life centered on family, friendships, and a career dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families.

Throughout her life, Darlene faced challenges with remarkable strength and perseverance. She approached adversity with courage, determination, and a sense of humour that carried her through difficult times and brought comfort to those around her.

Darlene began her career in Quebec as a Special Care Counsellor and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care Counselling in British Columbia. Her dedication, compassion, and belief in the potential of every young person allowed her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

Those who knew Darlene will remember her caring heart, sharp wit, and generous spirit. She was honest, direct, and never afraid to speak her mind. You always knew where you stood with Darlene, and those who loved her appreciated her authenticity, candour, unwavering loyalty, and ability to find humour in almost any situation. Her laughter, stories, and unique perspective on life will be remembered by all who knew her.

Darlene is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jane (Anthony), and her grandchildren, Morgan and Tyler. She is also remembered by her siblings, Colleen, BJ and Bonnie, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

She was predeceased by her father, Bernard Joseph O'Keefe, her mother, Mary MacMillan, and many beloved family members.

Camping and spending time in nature brought Darlene great joy and peace. Whether gathered around a campfire or enjoying the quiet beauty of the outdoors, she found happiness in simple moments shared with family and friends.

In keeping with Darlene's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. Instead, family and close friends will gather at a campsite, one of her favourite places, to share stories, laughter, and memories in celebration of her life.

Darlene's legacy is one of compassion, resilience, determination, strength, and laughter. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.
