Obituary for Voo Look "Geoffrey" Phang

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Voo Look (Geoffrey) Phang at 12:35pm on March 2, 2022.

Voo Look was born on September 25, 1943, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Piang Fah and Swee Neo.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Grethe, and his three daughters, Su-Chin (Anni), Su-Yin and Su-Lin (Lise) and her husband Lawrence Renner.

Also mourning his loss are his sisters Siew Kuen Lee and her husband, John in the UK and Siew Moi Liung
and her husband, Cheong Poh in KL, Malaysia, along with extended family members and close friends.

He was proud of his military and leadership training from The Royal Military College in Port Dickson, Malaysia. Voo Look later went on to study in London, England and received his CGMA as an accountant, returning to KL in 1971, with his wife, Grethe and daughter, Su-Lin (Lise). In 1980, Voo Look, Grethe and their three daughters emigrated to Vancouver, Canada and eventually bought a house in Coquitlam in 1981. Voo Look and Grethe also spent several years in Hong Kong, while he was working for IMC from 1994 to 2002. Voo Look, Grethe and Su-Chin moved to Maple Ridge in 2016.

Voo Look loved good food and was a wonderful cook, he often made family favourites, such as chicken rice, laksa, hokkein mee and so much more. He also enjoyed swimming and playing squash (in his younger years). He was well-travelled and enjoyed some of the finest wines and whiskies during business dinners all around the world. Voo Look also had a wide social circle, he loved to joke around and share stories. He was a loving husband and a protective father who loved and cared for his family very deeply. Whatever he did, cooking, working, caring for his family, he did it with passion and love.

He was a great man and is so very dearly missed. He will forever be in our hearts.
