Obituary for Olive Edith Lahoda (Adams)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Olive, on July 29, 2023 at the young age of 98 with several of her children at her side.

She was born in Sussex, England the youngest of 7 children. During her teenage years she served in the Land Army in England during WW2 and became a war bride at the age of 18, a mother at 19 and at the age of 20 moved to Calgary, Alberta with her young family. Over the next 20 years she had 9 more children, a new husband and changed provinces, fought through cancer twice in her late 80’s and a heart attack when she was 87. No matter what life threw at her, she carried on and was sharp to the end.

She was kind, loving, patient and funny, always making people feel welcome. She will be greatly missed by her children: Shirley (Mark), Linda (Charles), Doug (Sharon), Marlene, Brenda, Dale (Pia), Wayne (Sue), Wendy (Glen), Michele (Ryan), 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, both in Canada and England, whose lives she touched.

Olive was predeceased by her parents (Herbert and Edith Adams), second husband Martin (1991), first husband Len, four brothers, three sisters, baby Allen, two step-sons (Bob and Gordie), son-in-law (Derrik), a great granddaughter (Crystal), and many others she has known throughout her life.

She was a blessing to us all, our memories of her will be treasured. Although she has gone to Glory, she will always be at our side.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Rest in Peace. 💖🙏🏻
