Obituary for Nicola "Nick" Di Tomaso

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nick Di Tomaso on April 4, 2022 at the age of 81 With strength and grace he fought a battle with mesothelioma, much like he dealt with all aspects of his life.

Nick was the first born son to Tony and Margaret Di Tomaso, older brother to Pat and Tony.

Nick is survived by his wife Beth Platt - Di Tomaso who he finally married in August, 2021, after more than a 30 year relationship.

He is survived by his four children Kim (Ken) Kathy [Len] Kelli (Ken) Nick Jr. (Leila).

13 Grandchildren Ashley, (Cory) Brittney, (Rob) Cassandra, Brandon, Kerri, (Brian) Kelli, Jason (Kysa) Justin
Melissa, (Shawn) Shane, (Alex) Ryan,(Nikki) Jaedyn (Kirsten) Chelsea

14 Great Grandchildren Zander, Vera, R.J. Brooklynn, Kaitlynn, Eric, Natasha, Kaleigh, Chloe, Jayden, Christian, Bennett, Meleah, Kinsley.

He also leaves behind his pet children Smokey and Penni, and all the countless family and friends whose lives he touched along the way.

Nick was quite the fashionista, he took his cues from no one. More than happy to mow his lawn in his underwear (oops, speedo) He was content to don a pair of shorts and a button up shirt, every day.

Many a day Nick would spend in his garage tinkering on cars, admiring his baby, his 1964 Pontiac Parisienne convertible.. Going for coffee was a favorite pastime for many years Some great friendships resulted from this tradition. Most notably his 60 year friendship with Brian Penney.

Nick was a man of few words, renowned for his short and sweet conversations, especially on the telephone. He much preferred to occupy his time in his garden among the lush vegetation he so plentifully and proudly grew.

Although Nick was the first to leave a party or family get together, his last request was for us to have a party to celebrate his life. Join us May 28, 2022 at 1:00 pm at 2192 Grant Ave, Port Coquitlam.

Come and share a story, and a laugh, as we reminisce with our fond memories of this great man. Please add your memories/stories/photos/condolences here for the family.
