Obituary for Mary Maureen Wills (Raffard)

Mary spent her early years in Saskatchewan on the family farm with her 5 siblings (Mel, Marlene, Marl, Sharon and Brent) and parents (Lucien and Julianne aka Judy) Later they moved to Edmonton and she got her first job at Army & Navy in the shoe department. She met and married Wayne and they had 3 children Judy, Wade and Jackie. They made the decision to move to B.C. and put down roots in Coquitlam and Burnaby. Mary took care of about 50 children over 20 years with her home daycare business and later got a job at Royal Columbian Hospital in housekeeping where she worked for 15 years.

During retirement, she took care of her grandson, Declan, teaching him her love of puzzles, crafts and gardening. They were always going for walks and bike rides. She never missed his soccer games but was always fearful when he joined BMX. “So dangerous!”

Mary was always there to listen and give advice even if it did include some 4 letter words but it just meant that she cared.

She was a true friend to those close to her, there to lend a hand to anyone in need and never asking for anything in return.

When she got Cancer she never wanted anybody to fuss over her and was always making sure everybody else was doing ok. She was stubborn, strong and a fighter right up until the end.

We are grateful for the time that we got to spend with her and she will be missed forever.

As per her request she was cremated with no funeral. She just wanted everyone to remember her as she was.
