Obituary for Dianne Stein

Dianne was born in Meadow Lake, Sask, on the snowy steps of the hospital on Jan 9, 1931. In her teen years she moved to Winnipeg, MB, where she would go dancing every chance she could. The dance hall is where she met her husband, Wally Stein. They were both exceptional dancers, and a joy to watch.

They got married in June of 1950, had 5 children in Winnipeg, then moved to Edmonton and had 4 more. Life was tough raising the children in Edmonton at the time, so they packed up and moved to Beautiful BC where life got much better for them.

Wally bought an 18-wheeler truck and many times, Dianne would travel with him, sometimes taking along a Grandchild with them. She could drive that truck from the passenger seat, almost as good as Wally. Dianne tried her hand at a few jobs, painting houses, nailing tarpaper on the roof to sanding furniture, which she ended up buying the piece she worked on for herself, and still has it.

They ended up buying a Blueberry farm in 1993 and lived there until the passing of Wally in 2002. They were married for 52 years.

Dianne moved into a condo in New Westminster and loved her life with her best friends, Myrna and Dixie, going on many trips to the Casinos in the states or playing Bingo.

She loved to Bake and would bring her baking to the bingo hall and share with her friends. She also shared her baking with many in the condo.

Friends and Family were always welcomed in Dianne’s home. She loved to entertain and have family gatherings which would consist of over 17-20 people at times. She always did the cooking, and shared all her fabulous recipes, with her children, who now cook those same foods.

Dianne, who lived an amazing life to 93 years, was the Rock and Glue of the Stein Family and a legend in her own time. She will be sadly missed by so many.
