Obituary for Marlene Luella Campbell (Wingrove)

Marlene died on January 8, 2024 at Shaughnessy Care Centre, Port Coquitlam. She would have turned 88 on January 29th.

Born in New Westminster to Ruby and George Wingrove, Marlene spent most of her childhood in Vancouver. The family moved to Port Coquitlam when George got a job on the railroad, and, as PoCo did not have a high school, Marlene went to school in Port Moody where she met John Campbell. They married in 1956 and shared 53 wonderful years together, travelling, entertaining, and living life to the fullest. They loved to spend time with friends and family. Pool parties!

Marlene worked for almost three decades at Imperial Oil, ultimately becoming Secretary to the Refinery Manager. "They would send me the green ones, and I would train them up," she said.

In retirement they pursued their travel dreams and saw much of the world.

After John's death in 2009, Marlene began a decline into dementia. she was well cared-for at Langley Gardens and, subsequently, S.C.C. The family is very grateful to the staff at both facilities.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Leanne; son-in-law Klaig; sisters June (Arden), Jill (Murray) and a large extended family. Her three brothers pre-deceased her.

As per her wishes, there will be no service
