Obituary for Marilyn Christina Ladner (Purdy)

Marilyn, born in Calgary to Catherine and Stan Purdy. Sister to Bob and Cheryl. Loved the outdoors and reading and puzzles. Aspired to be an English teacher before she gave birth to Susan and Melodie, and spent the latest years correcting Susan's grammar.

Marilyn always rose to the challenges that she faced with the spirit of a Celtic. She overcame a stroke and in the ensuing years, a plethora of other serious medical issues. When she was in her late 50s, she went on to get her Insurance Adjusters Certificate, which was a huge source of pride for her. In her early 60s, Marilyn boarded a plane without a travelling companion and traveled Scotland and England as part of a bus tour, thereby achieving a lifelong goal to see her heritage lands. We used to joke about her 9 lives, and unfortunately, she finally used them all. She left us after a hard-fought battle with everything that Universe could throw at her. She just ran out of fight.

Marilyn leaves behind her daughters Susan and Melodie, her grandchildren Heath, Jared and Matilda, her sister Cheryl (Jack), sisters in law Sue(Graham) and Janine(Brenda), brothers in law Larry(Virgina) and Doug, her beloved cat Grace, numerous nieces and nephews, and a few longtime friends, including Susan's dad Brian(Andria) and the Sylvan/Nuffy's crew that affectionately called her Mum.

She will be sadly missed by her family and fondly remembered.
