Obituary for Marcel Peter VanderSluys

It is with extreme sadness that we announce Marcel Peter VanderSluys aged 59 of Port Coquitlam, BC, originally born in Montreal, Quebec, passed away from complications from Antiphospholipid Syndrome on Saturday, March 21st, 2020. He was a cherished Husband, Father, Opa, Son, Brother and dear friend to many! He has left to grieve many close family and friends. Mourning his passing is his beloved wife Kimberly VanderSluys and Daughters, Carly and Talia and Step-Son, Matthew (Emily) Wiseman and Grandson Avary. Foster Sons Jimmy and Clarence Modeste. Loving Mother Norma, Siblings Carla (Jens Christian), Hans (Vishaka) and Helga (Albert). Nephew Gregory (Cynthia) and Nieces Chloe, Ainsley and Saskia and Great Niece Livia. Lastly his Bestfriend of 45yrs. Grant (Brigitte)😢 He has now joined our Son Nicholas, his Father Leo and his Father-in-law Nelson.

Marcel’s last few years have been extremely challenging with relentless medical issues related to his Blood Disorder. Only this past year were we able to reconnect with our Foster Son’s and he thoroughly enjoyed their visits. However, right to the end he remained positive and was always talking about us travelling places together, or attending the Rolling Stones as he has wanted for so long! He was determined to beat his illness and would often tell me “I can’t abandon our girls,” but his Spirit ultimately wasn’t able to win out against his disorder. In his younger years Marcel did a ton of travelling and actually went on a trip around the world. He has sooo many wonderful stories he has shared and re-shared over the years! He often talked about us making that same trip again as a family. Sadly, we will have to continue to live vicariously through his fascinating stories. His passing has left a HUGE void in all our lives, but we know he is watching over us and look forward to the time we will be reunited.
