Obituary for John Reisinger

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Dad, Grampa and Great Grampa at the age of 94.

John was predeceased by the love of his life and best friend Vennette in 2013. He is survived by his daughter Sandy (Rick) Wilschek, his son Jeff, his grandchildren Kristen (Josh) and great grandson Carter, Curtis (Kaitlan) and great granddaughter Hayden, Steven and great grandson Rory and Matthew. He is also survived by his brothers Rudy (Joan), Manfred (Maureen) and Charlie, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

John worked as a planer man for the IWA Local 1-357 in New Westminster for 45 years and retired in 1989. His favourite pastimes were storytelling, puttering in his yard and being in his workshop making ‘things’. He was extremely hardworking, careful and conscientious in everything he did and was a fighter to the end, battling through complications due to diabetes. He was proud of his accomplishments and we were very proud of him. John had a great love for the outdoors in camping, hiking and biking and he enjoyed playing fastball, 5-pin bowling and horseshoes.

John will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, always willing to help out where he could. Thanks for the memories John …. you will be lovingly missed and will be forever in our hearts.

Special thanks to Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody for their caring support. If you wish to honour John’s memory, a donation to Diabetes Canada or Crossroads Hospice would be appreciated.
