Obituary for John Arthur Hooge
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Arthur Hooge.
He leaves behind his loving wife Mary Elsie Hooge (Wiebe) four sons Rodney(Susan), Richard (Michele), Darcy(Lori) and Darrell (Shirly) and 6 Grandchildren Bryan, Brett, Kimberly, Christina, Haylie, Reina.
John was born May 05, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He moved to B.C. as a child and grew up in the Fraser Valley.
John married his beloved Elsie in 1953 and remained married for 69.5 years til his death. During that time he worked at the Army Camp in Vedder Crossing as a civil servant. They raised their four sons in Sardis B.C. and in 1968 moved the family to Coquitlam. While living in Coquitlam he worked at BC Tel for about 24 years until he retired. As a young man he developed a love for photography which lasted most of his life.
John also enjoyed taking his family camping. In retirement John and Elsie were able to continue camping in Southern B.C., Northwest Washington State and as well as travelling around North America. John also enjoyed life by geocaching, riding his bike and gardening.
John passed away in his sleep.
At John’s request, he did not wish a funeral or memorial service.
