Obituary for Jason Alexander Bupe Shamatutu

It is with profound sadness that we write of the unexpected sudden loss of our beloved son and brother, Jason Shamatutu. Jason was loved by all, known for his beautiful smile, gentle kindness, caring heart, creativity and generous spirit. He was warm, friendly, cheerful and willing to help and encourage his friends, whether with school or physical fitness. His vitality inspired others.

One of his mottos was Stop, Go slow, Love. He loved the outdoors, camping, hiking and physical fitness.

He accepted Christ in 2007. One of his favorite verses was Hebrews13: 5,6. “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”

He attended Terry Fox High School and was a valued player of the Terry Fox Ravens football team. His skill and focused discipline enabled him to play on the football team at Queens University, where he was a rookie all star. While completing his degree in Global Development and Business Certificate, he was also an advocate for indigenous rights, black students and social justice. He always wanted to help and serve others. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his parents, Emmanuel and Marilyn Shamatutu, brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Christina Shamatutu and aunt and uncle, Dave and Maureen Jacobson and extended family in Zambia.

Memorial Service will be at Hillside Community Church located at 1393 Austin Ave, Coquitlam on Aug 21, 2021 at 11:00am.
