Henryk “Heniu” Zydowicz passed away on August 16, 2022 at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Henryk stayed strong and resilient until the end.
In his youth, Henryk enjoyed tormenting his parents by breaking bones after reckless bicycle stunts, and misbehaving at every opportunity. He also enjoyed delivering beer kegs and getting paid in free pints! The recklessness continued with the jumping out of perfectly serviceable aircraft, in uniform and red beret, and in the service of his country.
Henryk met the love of his life, Krystyna, in 1966 in Krakow Poland. It was love at first sight, and they married in 1969. Together, they had two sons. They supported each other through various adventures, including their emigration to Canada and subsequent challenges.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Henryk. He loved to sit by a campfire or share a chat and a beer with friends by the garage. He loved tinkering, had an uncanny ability to fix anything, and found happiness in daily activities. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Henryk is survived by his wife Krystyna, his sons Paul and Rafal, and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at St. Casimir’s Polish Parish, at 11:00am on 30th August. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
