Obituary for Gray Norris Gledhill

It is with immense sadness that the family of Gray Norris Gledhill announces his passing at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Surrey, British Columbia on Friday May 20, 2022. Gray was in his 68th year and had fought a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer, Mantle Cell Lymphoma. While Gray had met his health challenges with persistent positivity and hope that galvanised all around him, his passing was peaceful at the last.

Gray was born to Ronald (predeceased) and Jean Gledhill on October 24th, 1953 in New Westminster, BC. Not far from there, he lived and worked most of his life at Teal Cedar in Surrey, BC. Gray was fiercely loyal to his employer and the many friendships he created over the decades.

Gray was predeceased by the love of his life, Brenda Gledhill (nee Kennedy). Father to Jamie, wife Tina and grandfather to Riley and Kalen. Father to Julie, partner Steve and grandfather to Sydney, Peyton and Eli. Beloved father of daughter Lisa and daughter Tarrah, husband Mark and grandson Sam. Brother of Paul and uncle to Ian, Colin, Jennifer, Sariah, Paul, David and Carrie. Gray’s family was everything to him.

Gray’s passions included the outdoors, food and friends and he was happiest while camping or staying at his cabin on the Sunshine Coast. He always made it a personal mission to leave every person a bit better than how he found them in a myriad of ways, be it a shared joke, a compliment or even just a smile. His energy, enthusiasm and engineering inspired us all and his love, service and support to all his friends and family was unsurpassed. His passing leaves a crater that can never be filled but the spark he shared will continue to burn and grow in each of us.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation in memory of Gray, where he and Brenda received treatment and support.
