Obituary for Grace Pringle (Bain)

Grace Pringle (nee Bain) passed away peacefully at home in Burnaby, BC, surrounded by her family on September 29, 2020 at the age of eighty-four. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was one of seven children; five sisters and one brother.

Grace and her husband David had three children, Leslie (Terry), Robert (Maria), and Jo-Anne (Glen), five grandchildren, Kylie (Nana's Honeybun), Ben, Mark, Delaney and Angus. Grace had numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

She enjoyed high tea, and her ladies' lunches with her remaining sister, sister-in-law, and nieces, and thoroughly enjoyed swimming dates with her best friend.

Grace and David met in 1960, were married that same year and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They seemed destined to meet as at the age of five, while visiting in the same building, they both coincidently used to pass the time by riding up and down in the elevator that was operated by David's grandmother, but never at the same time. Once married, they lived in various parts of BC, in Australia and vacationed for many years in Mexico, first at their timeshare, then by RV (until both the RV and the driver got too old!).

Leslie spent more than half her life living out-of-province, so cherishes the time she spent with her mom in her last weeks.

Kylie will miss her special cuddles and elephants from her Nana.

In her last days, Nana expressed how touched she was by the love and support she received from Ben and Mark.

Delaney and Angus enjoyed the many family dinners, special occasions, and games nights at Nana and Papa's and will miss family times at the cottage, eating Nana's pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Grace always worked in jobs that put her face-first with people and the public, and became quickly known as "work mom" to many of her younger colleagues.

She had a warm personality and a good sense of humour. Even up to the very end, she had a sharp mind, and a smile you wouldn't forget.

Grace will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will be celebrating Grace's life with a small private gathering.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the Terry Fox Foundation be considered.
