Obituary for Glenn Griffith Francis

It is with sadness that the family of Glenn Griffith Francis announces his passing on February 19, 2020 in Vancouver General Hospital.

Glenn was born to Jean and William Francis in Princeton British Columbia on April 10, 1949. As part of the fourth generation of a pioneer family and the youngest of five children, he grew up with many adventures in small towns like Princeton, Silver Creek and Hope.

In his younger years Glenn was know to family and friends for hot cars, rock & roll and exotic British motorcycles. He was an ardent fisherman and could be found on the banks and shores of many local waterways.

Glenn’s last years were spent in Brock Fahrni Pavilion were he was well cared for and supported to do great things, he was very proud that he got back to guitar, driving and writing poetry. He was known there as an “outgoing introvert” and took pleasure in writing pieces for retirements and special occasions.

For much of Glenn’s life he struggled with mental illness and it seemed that as many people that were pushed out of his life he was always drawing people to him. He was a kind and gentle soul, may he rest in peace.

Survived by: Sister Anne (Emilio) many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Pre-Deceased by his Parents Jean & William. Siblings: Dora, Beryl & Henry.

At Glenn’s request there will be no service his ashes will be interned in the Allison Family Cemetery at a later date.

The family is very grateful and extends a heartfelt thank you to the Staff at Brock Fahrni Pavilion for the compassionate care and support given to Glenn in his residence there. The Respiratory Team at VGH ensured that Glenn’s final days were comfortable and he passed with dignity and respect, thank you.
