Obituary for Georgina Anita Harvey (Marchildon)

Georgina Anita Harvey (nee: Marchildon) was born in Prince Rupert, British Columbia on November 19, 1941. She is the youngest of two daughters along with her sister Josephine Robert of her parents, Joseph and Gladys Marchildon, both who predeceased her.

In her younger years Georgina’s family moved down from Prince Rupert to Vancouver where she attended Kitsilano High School. After graduating she initially worked as a secretary at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School until she had her two children.

Georgina leaves behind her husband, Ken, whom she married in Vancouver on June 30, 1961 after initially meeting him on a blind date while Ken was temporarily in Canada having come from Wales. Georgina’s best friend at that time, June, was dating Ken’s best friend, Glyn, also from Wales.

Georgina also leaves behind her two children, her son Brian Harvey (his wife Ruth) and her daughter Janice de Wolf (her husband David). In addition Georgina had three grandchildren, Amanda Barnes (her husband James) and Meaghan and Brent de Wolf. She also had two great-grandchildren Leonardo & Raphael Barnes.

Georgina loved to take trips and travelled extensively to many places over the years. She enjoyed many cruises and very much enjoyed spending the winter months for several decades in the family’s Palm Desert, California home.

Georgina was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as great grandmother to her family and, at the time of her death, was married to her soulmate Ken for over 61 years. Sadly, in 2020 Georgina developed Altzheimer’s disease and in April 2021 was placed into Morgan Place in South Surrey, B.C. where she passed away peacefully on January 27, 2023.

At Georgina’s request, she did not wish any funeral service except a private family memorial.

Ken, Brian and Janice as well as the extended family wish to offer their sincere appreciation to all of Georgina’s caregivers at Morgan Place for their love, care and compassion she received during the final chapter of her life.
