Life Story for Esme Joan Walker

Esme was promoted to heaven on July 15,2019 at the age of 91 after a 14 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Cape Town, South Africa on Dec 04, 1927. Esme married the love of her life, John Walker, in 1952. In 1972, John, Esme, and only child Anne, immigrated to Canada. Esme will lovingly be remembered by her daughter Anne, son-in-law Gordon Fabbi and grandchildren Nicole and Neil. Esme is survived by 4 sisters, Doris (Australia), Olga (USA), Glenda (England), Lorraine (England) and brother Derek (England).

Esme will always be remembered for her smile and sense of humour. She could always be found telling a joke. Esme loved to volunteer. For over 30 years she volunteered with the Eagle Ridge Hospital Auxiliary in the gift shop. She organized fundraisers and fashion shows. She would volunteer on numerous committees in the community. Her passion was St Laurence Anglican Church. She served in many different areas and on committees within St Laurence. She endlessly baked pies as her fundraising contribution to the bake sales. Orders would come in quickly for her delicious meat pies.

A Special thanks to the staff of Hawthorne Care Centre for their compassionate care they extended to Esme over the 8 years she spent there.

There will be a celebration of life for Esme on August 17, 2019 @ 1pm at St Laurence Anglican Church, 825 St Laurence St, in Coquitlam.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society are welcomed.
