Obituary for Dianne Mae Hepting (Lake)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and loyal friend, at Peace Arch Foundation House, with family at her side.

Dianne always carried herself with grace and charm at 4’10 and a 1/2 she was the kindest, most courageous, caring and loving daughter, sister, mother and friend anyone could ask for. Even with a career and 3 wild boys to bring up she still found time to be there for anyone who needed her. She was witty and lots of fun, with a smile that would light up a room.

Dianne looked forward to family gatherings, taking picture with her boys and staying up late to talk to her sons while eating her midnight sweets. Every Christmas it was her mission to find a bigger and fuller Christmas Tree than the year before and it was always left up until Ukrainian Christmas.

She also looked forward to spending time with friends, from going for lunch, shopping and travelling. Her many friends would agree that they became friends forever.

One of her fondest memories was being on the very first BC Lions cheerleading team.

She left us after a 4 year battle with cancer with her head held high and a strength no one could forget. She will be missed by all who knew her. We are extremely grateful to the staff at the Canadian Cancer Society and for the doctors and nurses that cared for her.

Dianne was pre-deceased by her parents Fred and Anastasia (Nelly) Lake and her son Don (December 2021). She leaves behind her sons Gary and David; daughter-in-laws Mila, Stephanie and Janice; brother Don and wife Bev; sister-in-law Elaine and her grandchildren Brandon, Justin, Jessica & Nic, Megan, Alexandra & Matt and great-grandchild Everly as well as many life-long friends to mourn her passing.

A private graveside service will be held with the immediate family later this summer.

Donations in her memory can be made to the B.C. Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
