Obituary for Clifford Charles Eric Denike

CLIFFORD C. E. DENIKE September 18, 1937 – October 4, 2020. Cliff passed away at the age of 83 in his sleep at Burnaby General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his sister, Geraldine, his brother, Kenneth, and his nieces and nephews, Valerie (Jaden, Kegan), Susan (Maceo, Hazel) and Steven (Aiden, Tia).

He was a joyful, kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humour. His full-bodied laughter could often be heard from across a room. Cliff steadfastly wrote cards and letters to old school pen pals around the world and donated to select charities. He enjoyed the opera and used it as a springboard to learn various languages so he could understand as it was sung rather than relying on a rough translation. His love of learning began earlier in life and was shown in his studies at the University of British Columbia with completion of both a Bachelor and a Masters degree.

He worked as a long-shore man for many years. During his retirement he visited with friends and family, attended church, listened to his beloved opera, cheered on many of the local amateur sports teams and began carpet bowling. He was often out and about exploring the city.

The family is thankful for the care and compassion that Cliff received at Dania Manor and through Classic LifeCare.

His life was greatly enriched by his involvement with his church and their support and love for him. Memorial donations may be made to the Vancouver Community of Christ at 3333 Kaslo Street, Vancouver, BC, V5M 3H3 https://www.cofchristvancouver.ca/
