Obituary for Carly Ember Wilson

Carly Ember Wilson, aged 26, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2019 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was a kind, compassionate, lovely, creative, intelligent soul who had a keen sense of humour and left a lasting memory with all who met her. She had many good friends and she was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin.

Carly's brother, Dylan, adored his baby sister right from the beginning. She grew into an adventurous, active toddler and at a young age, we recognized that she had an ear for music. Many years of piano lessons and recitals followed. She also loved to sing and in her younger years, competed in singing competitions, talent shows and school productions. In addition to music, she loved to be silly, laugh and take the stage. As she grew into adulthood, she continued to pursue her dream of a career in acting, taking acting lessons and securing an agent. She also was an excellent writer and had a gifted ability to put words on paper.

Independent and courageous, Carly was determined to explore university options in BC and settled on moving from Ontario to complete a Bachelor of Communication Studies Program at Capilano University. She was rewarded for her efforts with a 4.0 GPA and received multiple academic achievement awards along the way.

When she was recently asked about what makes her feel good, she said, "being with those I love, helping people, nature and being creative". She was most at ease walking the trails around the seawall in Vancouver or climbing Quarry Rock in Deep Cove. She also loved to travel and took many international trips, including many countries throughout Europe, as well as Australia and the United States. Perhaps her most awe-inspiring trip was the trip she took with her dad when they climbed to Mount Everest base camp. Her dad returned from the trip noting that Carly exhibited an inspirational enthusiasm and a sense of serenity as she scaled the mountain.

Carly is a light in all of our lives. She was a sweet young woman who left us far too soon. If tears could bring her back, she would be beside us right now. The vivid memories of Carly are barely holding us together, but they will be the glue we need to continue on. We love her dearly.

The outpouring of love and support from family and friends will always be remembered.
