Obituary for Arthur Edward Rodney Taylor

On May 26th, Arthur lost his battle to skin cancer.

Arthur fought with everything he had. His courage and strength will never be forgotten. He was so brave to undergo many invasive surgeries and treatments with a hope to be rid of the aggressive cancer. Cancer won’t be remembered but our dad, husband and grandpa will.

Arthur was such a great dad to his daughters (Stephanie, Pamela and Julia), dog dad to our Pomeranians Teddy Bear and Theo, loving husband to Debbie, grandpa to Lincoln and brother to Jennifer and Dave along with their families (Kevin, Heather, Sue, Darby and Flynn).

Arthur will always be remembered for his love of cars. He took pride in fixing up his old 1956 Chevy Bel Air and enjoyed cruising around in his 2002 Camaro.

We are so grateful to have had such a hard working dad/husband who went over and above to provide for us. Showing up to everything throughout our lives, we couldn’t be more grateful.

Arthur loved to talk to people and get to know them. He volunteered his time towards BC Children’s Hospital Jean’s Day and Cub Scouts. Early in life, he loved being a part of the Navy Cadets and cherished those memories.

Arthur enjoyed watching sports especially hockey. His love of hockey was in his blood as his great grandfather won the Allan Cup in 1918.

Arthur loved working the Giants hockey games, getting to know many of the players, their parents and even their grandparents.

When Arthur retired from Canada Post in 2007, he realized retired life wasn’t for him. His love of working and being around people and cars kept him going. He had recently been working at Carter GM in Burnaby as a shuttle driver. He loved his co-workers and they treated each other like family. It was difficult for Arthur to take the necessary time off from work to undergo surgery. He was so hopeful to head back to work and see his co-workers again. Not many people can say that they love their job so much they can’t wait to go back.

In honour of our dad/husband who grew up in Scarborough, big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, join us in shouting out “Go Leafs Go!”

We would like to thank the amazing staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Surrey Cancer Agency, Eagle Ridge Hospital and Crossroads Hospice for the support and care they provided to our husband, dad and grandpa.
